Kamie Lightburn

Kamie is a fervent philanthropist and entrepreneur who was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She received her BA from Vanderbilt University in 1994. Upon graduation, she moved to New York City. There, she dedicated her career to luxury fashion merchandising and marketing for 15 years.

It is her love of giving, instilled by her father, that led her to new paths of service and fundraising. Indeed, Kamie has served on the boards of many causes where she feels she can, and truly has, made a difference.

In leadership positions, Kamie served as Chairman of the board of the Horticultural Society of NY. There, she co-founded a vital family membership initiative called The Green Families Circle. She was the sole honoree of their New York Flower Show Dinner Dance in 2017. Kamie served as President, and then Chairman of the FIT Couture Council Board. She concurrently served as Vice-president of the board of Central Park Conservancy’s Women’s Committee.

Kamie also serves on the board of many other causes she finds meaningful and impactful in medical research, education, and the cultural arts. These include The Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, The Bruce Museum in Greenwich, CT, The New York Academy of Art, and YAGP, an organization that provides vital scholarships for young ballet dancers worldwide.

She also co-chaired the Flagler’s Museum’s Bal Poudre 2017 in Palm Beach. Furthermore, Kamoe served on the board of Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, a premier human services organization in NYC. She was the sole honoree of their 2014 Gala for her many years of dedicated work to numerous charities.

Additionally, she continues to proudly support her Alma Mater, Vanderbilt, and is a Member of the Corporation of the New York Botanical Garden.

In 2016, Kamie was selected as one of Avenue Magazine’s Icons of Philanthropy in NYC and was selected as one of 7 of Manhattan’s Magazine’s Women of Style. As Kamie is no stranger to fashion, she immediately recognized POP BAG would revolutionize the way women wore their handbags: with creativity, high quality, and at an intelligent price.

Combining her philanthropic mindset with the innovation of POP BAG, she endeavors to support women’s empowerment, currently seen in their proud partnership with Bottomless Closet, which provides essential resources to underserved women in New York to gain employment.
